LATCHKEY / WALK PROUD / THE HOMEOWNERS / BULLET TREATMENT
"Furious World 4-way split"
cd
(br-022)

Furious World is a 4-way split cd featuring two L.A. bands and two D.C. bands, if you want to know what two of the greatest punk rock scenes are up to today then this is a great testimony to the underground. While all four bands may be considered hardcore punk, there is definitely a difference in the style represented from both coasts. First up from D.C. is a great band called LATCHKEY, having toured over the last two years along side such acts as BAD RELIGION, A GLOBAL THREAT, and the MISFITS these guys are redefining what east coast hardcore is all about. WALK PROUD returns with 5 new tracks featuring a high energy, fast paced set of tunes that pounds the head. Together since 1985, Walk Proud is stronger than ever. Still remaining true to their roots, the original line up has put together a killer new show that's guaranteed to knock you on your ass. Next is the other D.C. band called THE HOMEOWNERS. This band encompasses so many styles of aggressive music that simply labeling it punk or hardcore is almost too vague. Each member brings their own styles and attitudes to the band, which gives the band a tremendous pool of creativity to draw from. On the other side of the coin is BULLET TREATMENT, this is what punk is all about. Doing what they want, when they want, with who they want. Featuring the 7th version of the band (on purpose) ! What that means is unless you have the time to view the history of this innovative yet somewhat retarded entity you'll have to trust us when we say there is no other punk rock act today like Bullet Treatment. Delivering 8 songs in 12 minutes, I think you get the idea!

REVIEW:
"Finally a four way comp with balls and diversity. Four bands chugging out old school hardcore the old fashioned way. With integrity and differentiating styles. The problem with the new school is they rehash speed metal riffs over hardcore drumbeats. All bands here do their own take on the genre with great outcomes. DC area band Latchkey deliver early Government Issue style mayhem with plenty of beef and thought provoking lyrics. So. Cal. mainstay Walk Proud, deliver high decibel action with the flavorings of Uniform Choice meets early period Agnostic Front and vocals rants about self appreciation and unity. Tough stuff kiddies. East coast power pusher The Homeowners deliver just the right amount of crunch with some inspirational and well crafted growling vocals. Let us not forget Bullet Treatment. This band is California's best kept secret churning out classic punk on past releases and this time out showing hardcore who the real deal actually is. By and large, this release keeps the faith and proves that hardcore doesn't have to be metal to be brutal."
