TWO MAN ADVANTAGE
/ SUPREME COMMANDER
"Split 7"
(100 copies on Virgin Ice Clear Vinyl)
(400 copies on Hockey Puck Black)
(br-038)
Forged from the punk rejects
of all the other teams, a group of individuals came
together to form the deadliest machine ever to grace
the ice. With a total commitment to hockey, beer, and
punk rock, TWO MAN ADVANTAGE was
born kicking and screaming into a savage, hostile environment
with sticks swinging. A ferocious game plan was devised
and the Two Man hit the circuit, racking up huge numbers
of victories and almost never losing a bout. Never before
had such a perfect balance of offensive skill, finesse,
and tuneful melody been combined with a defensive depth
of hard-hitting, blazing mega-core. Two Man Advantage
has grown from a core group of skilled players and prolific
drinkers into a well-liquored, inexhaustible, steamrolling
machine--playing hundreds of games in support of the
Team's releases since the first demo in '97. Two Man
Advantage begin to turn it up a notch with a new record
"Don't Label Us" on Go Kart Records, a full US tour
followed in the summer of 2001 and more touring to follow
in the remainder of the year and 2002. This split 7"
will be their first release in 5 years. So grab a beer,
lace your skates, wear your mohawk up, and hit the ice
with theTwo Man.
SUPREME COMMANDER rose
from the ruins of 3 prolific and hardworking DC punk
bands. In the winter of 2005, ex- members of LATCHKEY,
WAKE UP COLD and THE DAYCARE SWINDLERS (Go-kart
Records) convened over beers and decided to give it
one more go, eschewing the missteps and mistakes of
their past bands. With the experience of thousands of
shows, a slew of releases and a firm knowledge of what
it takes to keep a band productive, Supreme Commander
hit the rehearsal studio and began building a catalog
of loud, fast, melodic hardcore. Comparisons to DAG
NASTY, GORILLA BISCUITS and PENNYWISE were
drawn. The band cut a demo in August 2005 and began
booking gigs in earnest. Supreme Commander began to
generate a buzz in their native DC while gigging in
New York City, Philly and other Mid-Atlantic locales.
REVIEW:
"Yet another awesome release from Basement records,
this time featuring two bands for the price of one!
First up on Two man Advantage who check in with two
hockey themed hardcore blasts that fall somewhere between
the Decline & Motorhead, good stuff indeed! On the flip
you get three fast yet melodic tunes from Supreme Commander.
Really classic sounding hardcore punk here, these guys
would have fit in perfectly on one of those old Mystic
records comps from the 80s. Basement is getting to be
quite a force to reckon with, keep it coming!"
